Two Chapin Residents Prepare For The “Yukon 1000” In Support Of Veterans
Jeff and John, both currently reside in Chapin, and both are preparing for 2024’s Yukon 1000 paddle race!
They strive to deliver a message and to raise funds for them through a GoFundMe page, in support of the local chapter for Team River Runner (TRR) whose mission is:
To provide all active duty, veterans and their families an opportunity to find health, healing, community purpose, and new challenges through adventure and adaptive paddle sports!
With a fundraising goal of $8,000, they’re looking to help support Veterans and TRR specifically. John said,
One of the efforts from TRR — other than the healing power of fellowship and time spent on the water in serene locations — is to provide equipment for Veterans who are physically disabled. That kind of gear is extremely expensive so it’s difficult for them to match the demand for those resources. But it’s so rewarding to provide that gift to someone who has sacrificed so much. We want to help support this group in every way possible.
The team has committed to donating at least 50% of the funds to TRR and have already distributed some early funds to them. To support Jeff and John, please visit their GoFundMe page or their Facebook page.
