Things to Look Forward to in August

South Carolina’s annual Tax Free Weekend is scheduled for Aug 4-6th. For 72 hours, tax-free items include computers, printers, school supplies, clothing and accessories, shoes, and certain bed and bath items. These tax-free items can be purchased in-store or online.

The third and final season of “Physical” hits Apple+ tomorrow . . . season two of “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty” hits HBO this Sunday . . . season three of “Only Murders in the Building” premieres August 8th . . . the final season of “Billions” lands on the 13th . . . and the latest Star Wars spin-off “Star Wars: Ahsoka” premieres on Disney+ August 23rd.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” opens tomorrow . . . “Meg 2: The Trench” arrives Friday . . . “Strays”, with Will Ferrell and Jamie Foxx as disgruntled dogs, hits theaters on the 18th . . . so does the new DC Comics movie “Blue Beetle” . . . and “Gran Turismo” opens the 25th.

 

SPORTS

The NFL Preseason gets started this Thursday with the Jets and Browns on NBC.  Then everyone else gets started next week.  And if you’re a tennis fan, the U.S. Open starts August 28th.
