Imagine getting ready to release your new album, only for world-shaking tragedy to take place on the very same day. It happened on September 11th, 2001, when a number of albums by some high-profile artists were released:
Bob Dylan, Love and Theft
Nickelback, Silver Side Up
P.O.D., Satellite
Jay-Z, The Blueprint
Slayer, God Hates Us All
They Might Be Giants, Mink Car
Some of those albums included eerily prescient lyrics: Bob Dylan sang of a “sky full of fire” on “Mississippi”, while Slayer’s “Disciple” included the line “terrorist targeting the next mark”.
Do you remember what you were doing on 9/11? Did you do anything other than watch the news coverage on TV?
