That’s What You Named Your Baby?

BabyCenter has released the top newborn baby names of 2018. Get ready… some of them are a little out there.

The most popular girl name is Sophia. Sophia has been the at the top of the list for nine straight years. The rest of the top 5 are Olivia, Emma, Ava, and Isabella.

For the sixth year in a row, Jackson is the most popular name for boys. The rest of the top five for boys are Liam, Noah, Aiden, and Caden.

We named our son Aidan, and at the time we thought we were being “different.” Turns out, we weren’t. Since then Aiden, Caden, Braden, Jayden, Hayden, etc has been really common. So much so that when he’s playing a sport, we call him by his nickname Bug, because there’s ALWAYS, without fail, a kid with a name that sounds similar.

The hottest trending names come from Zen including Peace, Harmony, and Rainbow. Fortnite, video game, was influential in baby names for 2018 with Ramirez, Leviathan, Bunny, and Rogue on the rise.

People are also looking at the Kardashian babies for names too. Stormi, Dream, Saint, and Reign saw significant increases.

Our oldest son was named after Brad Pitt’s character in Legends of the Fall; our Aidan was named after a Sex & The City character, so we understand getting names from pop culture, but I’m not copying anything the¬†Kardashian’s do.

I like being original and different, but I think naming your baby Rogue Rainbow is a bit much…
