Richland County on Tuesday became the 18th county or municipality in the state to vote to end the use of plastic bags.

Do you have your re-usable bags ready…If not it’s a recycled paper bag.  If a store breaks the ban it’s a $500 fine per violation and maybe having their business license revoked.

The draft ordinance says that the bags are an environmental hazzard and a nuisance.
But wait…They have to vote two more times before the ban becomes a ban.
(For how a Bill becomes a Law see School House Rock)
Next up Lexington is considering the same ban.

But this may all be bags in the water under the bridge…Why?

The American Progressive Bag Alliance has spent 88K in lobbying the South Carolina State House in the last two years.

I’m sure they’ll up the anty in the new session in January.
