New in Theaters: “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts”

1.  “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts“  (PG-13)  Trailer

The seventh installment in the “Transformers” series is another prequel. This one is set in 1994, seven years after the events of “Bumblebee”.  It stars Anthony Ramos from “In the Heights” as an ex-military electronics expert who tries to carjack Mirage (voiced by Pete Davidson). They become buddies and then work together alongside the other Autobots to save the world.

They all team up with beast transformers called Maximals to fight an army of evil ‘Terrorcons’.  Peter Dinklage is the Terrorcon leader Scourge, Ron Perlman is the Maximals’ gorilla leader, and Michelle Yeoh transforms into a falcon.

2.  “Mending the Line“  (R)  Trailer  (Limited)

Sinqua Walls (from the “White Men Can’t Jump” remake) plays a Marine who is wounded in Afghanistan, and sent to a V.A. facility in Montana.  There, he meets a Vietnam vet (played by Brian Cox from “Succession”) who teaches him how to fly fish as a way to deal with his emotional and physical trauma.
