Medical Office Accidentally Texts Patients That They Have Cancer… On Christmas Eve

A U.K. medical office tried to send out some holiday cheer – and instead gave patients the worst news imaginable.

Several patients received a text on Christmas Eve telling them they’d been diagnosed with “aggressive lung cancer”. 20 minutes later, the same number sent out this message: “Please accept our sincere apologies for the previous text message sent. This has been sent in error. Our message to you should have read We wish you a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

Most patients weren’t amused – calling the whole thing a ‘sick joke’ and dismissing the apology as ‘nonchalant’.

How would you react if you received a message like this?  What should the medical office do to make it up to the patients?
