Who knew Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich was the type to keep a diary? He did, and now he’s sharing some entries from 1982, when Metallica was just starting to play their first live gigs.
Ulrich shared two diary entries on Instagram from the band’s second and third-ever shows, when they opened for Saxon at L.A.’s Whisky a Go Go.
Ulrich wasn’t too happy at the time, complaining “Sound was awful” and “Played great myself, but the band as a whole sucked.” He also listed his paycheck for each show – a whopping $16.
