Ladies and Gentlemen…Rock and Roll…If they’d only stuck with that.

August 1, 1981 – MTV begins airing music videos with the legendary opening, “Ladies and Gentlemen, Rock & Roll.”

That’s followed by the power-chord-fueled guitar riff theme.

The first ten videos are:

The Buggles “Video Killed The Radio Star”…I dug new wave…Though it obviously didn’t kill the radio star

Pat Benatar “You Better Run”…Huge crush on her when I was a teenager too…Though more of a “Hell is for Children” guy

Rod Stewart “She Won’t Dance With Me”….I had totally forgotten this one

The Who “You Better You Bet”…Still a stalker classic…You better love me or else.

Ph.D. “Little Suzi’s On The Up”…I lived through the 80’s and I swear I’ve never heard of this song

Cliff Richard “We Don’t Talk Anymore”…Horrifying…Hated this song and still do…made me throw up a little in my mouth

The Pretenders “Brass In Pocket”…I’ve always dug her punk rock sneer…All the way through to the more recent “Boots of Chinese Plastic”

Todd Rundgren “Time Heals”…I like the three songs I know by Todd Rundgren…I don’t like this one.

REO Speedwagon “Take It On The Run”…The pain…the pain…You could not escape this cheesy nugget on the radio or now on MTV

Styx “Rockin’ The Paradise.”…I owned this album.  The cuts were all on one side and the back was laser etched with angels from the front cover…And yes it’s a little cheesy…but I still like it.

Pop Life…Five Things To Do In The Soda City Drunk Shopping…Bad for your liver…Good for the economy…By the numbers A Billionaires Secrets and Pictures of his junk…Surprisingly Inexpensive Adam Levine is repulsive…According to dinks that complained to the FCC Rubber Duckie You’re the One…Sesame Street at 50 You can make your own Led Zepplin Greatest Hits Playlist and a fancy logo
