So, to calculate a tip, all you do is move the decimal left one place (that will give you 10%) and double for 20% (the standard tipping amount for good service).
Now, if you haven’t been a server, here’s another thing to take into account when tipping: if you sit and talk, for longer than your meal takes, you should tip extra. Here’s why: table turnover is important for a server, and you’re preventing them from making more money. If you sit for 3 hours, that’s fine, but triple your tip:)
