If you’re a craft beer drinker like me, we’re going to have some more options soon! Experience Columbia just put out an article about the newest places opening in the Midlands, and even though I love food, I want to focus on the beer. We have some amazing craft breweries in town already: Twisted Spur, River Rat, Conquest, Hunter-Gatherer, Swamp Cabbage, Bierkeller, and Columbia Craft. Will Columbia and Lexington turn into the latest craft beer destination? I sure hope so!
On to the newest breweries! We’ll go in alphabetical order.
Opening June 2 in Lexington, Angry Fish will carry a Mango Habanero Ale, and a Blackberry or Key Lime Gose. I wish I could be there for the grand opening, but it won’t take me long to find my way there once they open! They’ll be the first craft brewery in Lexington County.
You’ve probably seen these beers around, but the actual brewery hasn’t opened yet. Best known for their TropiCarolina IPA, they also did a collaboration with Indah Coffee, and you can find it after the morning crowd clears out there as well.
You’ve heard of farm to table, but what about farm to glass? That’s what Hazelwood Brewing is serving up. Located in the Old Mill in Lexington, this brewery will even have it’s own farm. Talk about unique and exciting!
Last, but certainly not least, especially if you go by how big this place will be, is Steel Hands Brewing in Cayce. It’s claim to fame will initially be the fact that it’s going to be the largest brewery in the Midlands, but they’ll have a restaurant and taproom as well. I’m looking forward to seeing more about Steel Hands; it looks pretty great so far!
