Early Morning Blaze Destroys Bull Street Skyline
Saturday morning the dome of the historic Babcock Building becomes the largest structure fire Columbia officials have seen in several years…
While it’s still unclear how the fire started, Bull Street commuters are adjusting to the fact that the future skyline will have a different look. Mayor Steve Benjamin reflects on the loss of architecture and history in the structure, “It’s a massive loss, for the people of not just Columbia but also South Carolina and American history,” Benjamin said.

Sad. You just get used to seeing some things. Coming down Bull St into the city won’t be the same. @wis10 https://t.co/jasGQPRtyk
