A section of the North Dakota State Fairgrounds was trashed on Friday after a tornado warning was issued — although one didn’t have anything to do with the other. Not directly, anyway.

The destruction came at the hands of 18,000 Kid Rock fans who were upset after being told at the last minute the show was cancelled due to weather concerns. Audience members — who’d been waiting for hours before learning of the cancellation — threw bottles, stormed the stage and climbed up lighting poles in the chaotic aftermath, video reveals.

Although Kid Rock defended the move on Twitter, fans weren’t buying it!

A number of them responded by pointing out that Night Ranger played a problem-free extended set at the fair just a short time before Kid Rock was scheduled to take the stage. They also noted that the fair’s carnival rides weren’t shut down in spite of a tornado warning being issued.

Is the adage “the show must go on” still observed in show business?
