Courtney Love Shared Some Never-Before-Heard Alternate Lyrics to “Smells Like Teen Spirit”
Courtney Love revealed some alternate lyrics to Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” that she only recently heard herself.
She sang them . . . although not terribly well . . . on a podcast called “60 Songs That Explains the ’90s”. Some have actually been published before, but others were only recently discovered. They include the following:
Come out and play / make up the rules / I know I hope / to buy the truth / who will be the king and queen / of all the outcasted teens.
We’re so lazy / and so stupid / blame our parents / and the cupids / a deposit, for a bottle / stick it inside / no role model.
We merge ahead this special day / this day giving amnesty to sacrilege.
A denial / and from strangers / a revival / and from favors / here we are now / we’re so famous / here we are now / entertain us.
PROFANITY WARNING: You can listen here, but the podcast is loaded with profanity. Skip ahead until the countdown clock says there’s 38:07 left.
