A Man Almost Died Filming “America’s Got Talent: Extreme”

“America’s Got Talent: Extreme” hasn’t even aired yet, and it already lived up to its name this past Thursday, when a contestant almost DIED in a stunt gone wrong.

Stuntman Jonathan Goodwin was strapped in a straight jacket and suspended upside down 70 feet in the air.  There was a car on either side of him that were rigged to swing toward him, crushing him between them.

Goodwin was supposed to free himself and fall onto an airbag below before the cars could hit him.  He did free himself, but just a second too late.

He got sandwiched between the cars, which were rigged with an explosive that went off on impact.  And when he fell, he hit his head on the ground.

Goodwin underwent surgery, and at last report, he was still in critical condition in the trauma ward.  There’s no word on the extent of his injuries.  Goodwin was just practicing the stunt when the accident occurred.  He’s 41 years olds.
